Organizational Structure of ASGC
Statutory Bodies (Article 4)
– General Assembly of Members
– Executive Council
– Executive Committee
– Board of Auditors
– President of the Academy
– Vice Presidents
– General Secretary
Members of the Executive Council and the Board of Auditors are elected by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Council.
The President, one or more Vice Presidents, and the General Secretary, who serves an indefinite term, are elected by the Executive Council from among its members.
By statute (Article 6, clause 4), the following individuals are de facto members of the Executive Council “if requested”:
– Mayor of Spello (or a delegate), representing the connection with the town identified as the headquarters
– A representative from the Umbria region (by agreement, the Cultural Affairs Commissioner) to emphasize the organization’s local roots
– A representative from the university (by agreement, the Rector) to oversee and ensure the association’s integrity.
The constant and repeated turnover of both statutory and non-statutory positions makes it difficult and almost pointless to report on them.
It is therefore deemed appropriate to limit the mention to the Presidents of the ASGC.

He is succeeded by Francesco Pastori, for health reasons
Manlio Sargenti, the senior Vice President, takes over, for health reasons

For the Executive Board, it is appropriate to mention the so-called internationalization.
In 1999, the Board considered it appropriate to “expand its composition by inviting scholars from other European countries” as this was “in keeping with the international level of the Academy’s activities.”
It proposes to the Assembly:
for Spain, Manuel J. García Garrido, a Romanist
for Germany, Dieter Nörr, a Romanist
for France, Jean-Michel Carrié, a historian, noting “the high scientific value of his work as a historian of the economy of the ancient world” and his role as the director of the journal Late Antiquity.
The Assembly accepts the proposal, proceeds with the election, and extends a warm thanks to the new Board Members for the work they have already done in the past for the benefit of the Constantinian Academy of Historical and Legal Studies.
